CellarPass provides you the option to use your Stripe Connect account as a credit card processor for ticketed events.
This article covers the steps required to utilize your Stripe Connect account with reservations on CellarPass, allowing you to require credit cards at time of booking. Note that connecting your Stripe Connect account to your CellarPass reservations, does not also change the processor used for ticketed events. This is outlined in a separate help article.
Step 1- Create and Configure Stripe Connect Account
- Create a Stripe account by going to http://www.stripe.com and select the Create Account option.
- Complete their form and become familiar with their admin panel.
- In the Stripe admin panel. click the Developers menu on the left-hand side.
- From the Developers sub-menu, select API Keys.
- Before continuing, be sure your Stripe account is not in Test mode. This will be clear as the slider next to Viewing test data will be active.
- Once you have confirmed your Stripe account is not in Test mode, look for the following:
- Publishable key
- Secret key
- The next steps will walk you through connecting your Stripe account to the CellarPass platform.
Step 2-Submit a Support Ticket to CellarPass
- So that we're aware that you are planning to use Stripe as your payment processor, we recommend that you submit a support ticket that includes the status of your Stripe Connect credit card processing account and when you plan on using Stripe as your processor.
Step 3- Connecting Your Stripe Connect Account to CellarPass
Please note that you must have Admin-level access to CellarPass to continue.
- Log into the CellarPass backoffice by going to http://www.cellarpass.com/manage
- Select Business from the left-hand main menu.
- Next, select Apps & Integgrations from the submenu.
- Scroll down until you find the section Available Payment Gateways (Reservations)
- Next, locate the blue Connect with Stripe button. Click this button.
- Follow the steps to connecting your Stripe Connect account. Once complete, move onto the next step.
- Now, click the radio button to the left of the Stripe option. This will make the Stripe processor active for any NEW events. This will NOT connect Stripe to any EXISTING events created before this change.
- Click the Save button in the top right to retain your settings.
Step 4- Testing Transactions with Stripe Connect
As with any major configuration change, be sure that you run several tests prior to making any Deposit Policy changes on your existing reservation events. Be sure that your Stripe Connect account is NOT in Test or Developer mode PRIOR to testing.
- Follow the normal reservation procedures for booking a reservation through the backoffice.
- Override the Deposit Policy to Charge Upon Booking- Accept Declined.
- You can set the Event Price per Person to be $1.00.
- Enter the credit card and complete the booking form.
- Submit the reservations.
- Review the reservation details, confirming the credit card was charged successfully. You can look at the Payments section of the Reservation details to view the payment history.
- If the charge was successful, complete a full refund or partial refund on one of your test orders, confirming it's working properly.
- We recommend that you log into your Stripe admin panel and review the charges.
Step 5- Troubleshooting Stripe Connect & Other Notes
If you run into payment processing issues during your initial tests, we recommend that you follow the steps above to make sure you have connected to Stripe correctly.
- If payment processing fails, and reconnecting to the Stripe Connect payment gateway fails, we recommend you contact Stripe Connect customer service immediately as this could be an issue with your account setup.
- If you have successfully processed charges in previous transactions and they are now failing, please contact Stripe for assistance.
- If you have confirmed that your Stripe Connect account is in "Live" mode and you continue to have problems, we recommend you submit a CellarPass support ticket.
