This article covers the basics of creating exclusive access to reservation-based events based on the Customer Types stored on a customer record within your Shopify store.
UPDATED 7/1/2022
CellarPass has retired this functionality. We recommend reviewing this feature as an alternative.
This article covers the basics of creating automated discounts on Reservation-based Events when a Guest has been recognized as a Club Member when booking online. This article assumes you've already connected your Shopify account to CellarPass and have completed the configuration in Step 2 BEFORE working on Step 2 and Step 3.
STEP 1- ENABLING THE CELLARPASS + SHOPIFY API SERVICE
One of the first steps of this configuration is to determine how your Club Members will be identified as there are two methods.
- All subscriptions that include a Reservation plan can recognize club members and automatically apply discounts. Professional plan (and higher) subscribers can add real-time club member look up via one of our many integrated eCommerce & CRM systems.
- All CellarPass subscribers that have an RSVP Plan (Basic and Professional) can manually upload their Club Member list into CellarPass and use that list to identify Guests and discount automatically.
STEP 2- CREATING SHOPIFY CUSTOMER TYPES IN CELLARPASS
Since Shopify doesn't provide an easy way to retrieve a complete list of Customer Tags created in their platform, you will have to manually re-create these in your CellarPass admin panel.
- Log into the CellarPass admin panel by going to http://www.cellarpass.com/manage
- From the left-hand main menu, select Business
- From the Settings submenu, select Account Types.
- Click the Add Customer Type button.
- Enter a name for your Customer Type that matches exactly as to how it's stored in Shopify.
- Click the Save button when ready.
- Repeat steps 4 - 7 until you have created all the Shopify Customer Types you plan on using in CellarPass.
STEP 3- SETTING THE EXCLUSIVE ACCESS ON RESERVATION EVENTS
Once you have identified the method in which CellarPass will identify specific Customer Types, follow the next steps on configuring those discounts. These are configurable on each Event built to accept Reservations and can discount based on different tiers that you may have for your Customer Types. Therefore, to automatically recognize customers and provide exclusive access, you must follow Steps 1 - 10 below for each Reservation-based Event.
- Log into the CellarPass backoffice by going to http://www.cellarpass.com/manage
- Click Experiences
- Select Events from the submenu.
- From the list of available Events, select the Event Name you wish to edit.
- Select the Discounting Tab in the top menu.
- In the Club or Account Types section, you'll need to configure a few options based on whether you want to just provide access or provide access and apply a discount.
- If you plan on providing Access Only to club members, select Access Only from the dropdown menu for each Club Member or Account Type / Tier AND check the box in the Required to Book to enable the Event to require Guests to be a particular Account Type to book.
- If you plan on provide a Discount and Access, you will need to select one of the available Discounts AND check the box in the Required to Book to enable the Event to require Guests to be a particular Account Type to book.
- When you have completed the configuration changes, click the Save button.
- At this time, we strongly recommend that you test your configuration BEFORE communicating this externally to your guests.
