The UpSell feature allows you to offer additional items for Guests to add to their Reservation.
Using the CellarPass UpSell Feature
The UpSell feature is very similar to the Add-Ons feature, but functions a little different. The Add-Ons feature can be configured to force the Guest to select from the Add-Ons menu during check. Whereas the Up Sell feature is more like a shopping cart. You can offer the items for sale, but they are not required to be selected as part of the booking. And yes, you can attach an Add-On Menu AND a Up-Sell Menu to the same Event, allowing the guest to choose say a list of food items, while offering other items such as charcuterie plates, cabana rentals and so forth as an UpSell.
This feature is available in all of our booking engines; backoffice, Guest Link Pro, Table Pro and all of our booking engines.
GETTING STARTED: CREATING ADD-ON ITEMS FOR UPSELLS

2. From the Reservations menu on the left, select Manage Add-Ons.
3. In the top right-hand corner, select + Add New Item
4. An item is considered one of your “experiences” or tasting options.
a. Click “Active”
b. If the item will be taxable, check this box.
c. Choose Experience Item (the other categories are used for UpSell Items)
d. Enter a SKU, required
e. Enter Cost, optional
f. Enter Retail Price, required
g. Enter Item Name, which will be shown to guests.
h. Enter a Description of the Item, which will be shown to guests.
5. Click Save.
6. After saving, click Cancel, taking you back to your Product list. You should now see your new item.
7. Repeat steps 3-5 for each experience (item) you are going to offer.
8. Once you are done with adding your tasting options, click Manage Collections from the Event Add-On's listing.
9. Think of Collections as your Menu that you’ll offer by attaching the Group to your Event(s).
CREATING MENUS (aka Collections)
10. Click + Add Group button.
11. Enter a Group Name, think of this as your “menu” name that will be shown to guests. It could be something as simple as “Tasting Options”
12. Group Type dropdown IMPORTANT:
a. Selecting the Up Sell as the Group Type option. Consider this your "shopping cart" menu of items that can optionally add to their Reservation.
13. Now that you understand Menu Collections, select + Add Item button.
14. From the dropdown, select your Items that you created in the first steps.
15. Continue to repeat steps 13-14 to add all the Items you want to feature in this menu.
16. Now off to the far right, you’ll notice a “charge” field. This allows you to override the retail price for each item that will charge the guest this additional fee for each item.
17. Click Save.
ADDING UPSELL MENU (GROUP) TO A RESERVATIONS-BASED EVENT
18. Last step is really important, attaching the menu to the Event. Go to Reservations, select Create & Manage.
a. Edit the Event you wish to attach the Menu to.
b. From the “Add-Ons” tab along the top, scroll down to the UpSell Group section. From the dropdown menu, select the UpSell menu you would like to apply to this event.
c. Click Save.
19. Repeat steps 18a – 18c for every event.
20. Lastly, test, test, test.
OPTIONAL STEP - Updating Confirmation Email(s)
If you would like to display the “choice” that guest (or you) selected during booking in the confirmation email, there’s a “tag” that will list out their choices. Edit your confirmation template and find a place where you want to have the system insert/display the choice(s) made. It’s called [[Add-Ons]].
You'll want to update each of your customized email templates that are associated with any Event that has an Add-On menu.
EDITING ADD-ON PRICES
In order to update or change an add-on item price, this must be done through the Group section that the item is included in (not the item itself).
IMPORTANT NOTE
You MUST have Items added to a Menu PRIOR to adding the Menu to the Reservation-based event. Not doing so, will lead to a crash on the consumer-facing interfaces.
