This article covers the steps required to properly setup your CellarPass account to utilize your OpenEdge payment gateway
In order to successfully integrate your CellarPass account with your OpenEdge payment gateway, you must follow these steps in this order. Please note that this gateway will only be applied to Reservations as Ticketing uses either the CellarPass payment gateway or your own Stripe.
STEP 1. CONTACTING OPENEDGE
We recommend you contact OpenEdge before proceeding. You will need to make sure that the credentials you are provided (or generate on your own) will be compatible with their latest integration points, which is XWeb 3.5. It's also important that you get the correct credentials that have an industry type of "ECOMMERCE" as "MOTO" or "RETAIL" will fail on transactions.
STEP 2. REQUEST THE PAYMENT GATEWAY OPTION TO BE ENABLED
This service is only available on the PRO and Enterprise Plans. If you wish to use your own payment gateway and are not currently on PRO or the Enterprise Plans, you must upgrade to the be able to connect to a payment gateway. You can confirm which plan you are on by looking just above our copyright information in the left-hand main menu of our admin panel.
Once confirmed, please submit a support ticket requesting the payment gateway option to be enabled.
STEP 3. CREATING OPENEDGE KEY
To get started, you must first log into your OpenEdge merchant account. Be sure that you have the proper credentials to do so before moving on.
- Log into the OpenEdge online payment gateway portal.
- On the left-hand menu, click the Payment Configurations menu.
- From the submenu, select Key Management.
- Up in the top, right-hand corner, select Generate Key.
- From the key type menu, select Transaction Processing.
- Next select the SOAP option.
- Your key should now be generated. It's very important that you copy and paste this long alphanumeric value into a Notepad file as you can never see the full string again. This will be copied into the CellarPass configuration panel, so don't lose it.
STEP 4. CONFIGURING CELLARPASS WITH OpenEdge
Now that you have successfully generated your OpenEdge key, you can now log into CellarPass and configure your payment gateway. Be sure to also confirm that you have submitted a request to enable the payment gateway option in a support ticket to CellarPass if you have not done so already. Lastly, be sure that you have Administrative rights or you will not be able to complete these changes.
- Log into the CellarPass admin panel by going to https://www.cellarpass.com/manage
- Click Business from the left-hand menu. If this does not appear, you do not have the correct administrative Role to make the changes.
- From the submenu, select Apps & Integrations.
- Scroll down on the page until you find the section that covers all the available Payment Processors & Gateways (Reservations)
- Click on the Setup button to the right of the OpenEdge icon which will then show another window.
- In this window, enter your OpenEdge Merchant/Username associated with the key you generated in Section 1.
- Next, find the Notepad file you created in Step 1. Copy and past this into the Merchant Key field.
- Click Save button located at the top or bottom of the page.
STEP 5. COMPLETING TEST TRANSACTIONS
Once completed, we strongly recommend that you run live credit card transactions by booking some test reservations with a real credit card via the CellarPass backoffice.
- Log into the CellarPass admin panel by going to https://www.cellarpass.com/manage
- Click Experiences from the left-hand menu.
- Next select Book Private Reservation
- Complete the normal steps of booking, but in the Deposit Policy section, override the setting to be Charge Upon Booking, Accept Declined. Also make sure the Fee Per Person is greater than $0.00.
- If you receive a successful transaction and charge, you are good to go.
- You can now update your deposit policies on each of your RSVP-based events.
TEST TRANSACTIONS ARE DECLINING
If you get a decline, try these before contacting CellarPass:
- You most likely didn't enter the correct OpenEdge Username or Key. Review these steps in Step 2 and re-save and try again.
- Make sure your OpenEdge account is not in Test mode as this will cause issues.
- By default OpenEdge requires a full address for approval. Since CellarPass never requires Address 1 or Address 2, you will need to contact their support to modify this requirement.
If you continue to run into declines, contact CellarPass support for assistance.
If you are switching payment processors or gateways, we strongly recommend you outline a transition plan since there will be significant side effects in doing so, especially if credit cards were required at time of booking (charged or not) as all cards are tokenized and are tied specifically to the payment gateway. We recommend contacting your merchant processor and/or gateway to learn more before committing to the change.
